Since the inception of this blog, I’ve published 57 posts and 31 pages making it about 88 valuable contents from me with about 588 comments so far. To me, it’s not too much neither is it too small? So I’m happy for my result so far. By the grace of God, Top Blogging Coach will be one year on the 17th of this month which was the day I registered the domain.
As I stated in my last post, I’ve never paid any attention to setting of goals since I started this blog, not that I didn’t want to, but because I never knew the impacts it can create on a business. Therefore, from this year (2013) on words, I’ve decided that at the end of every year, I will write my goal for the upcoming year.
You might wonder the reason for this sudden decision of mine; well I’m doing it for two reasons:
- Accountability: By putting this out there, it’s much harder to sweep this under the “Maybe next year” rug when things get tough.
- Help: By publicizing my goals, I hope to increase the capacity for others to help me out. Remember, no one will be able to hook you up with their friends if they don’t know you’re single.
Come on, It’s a brand new year and that means another time to jump on whatever goals you might have in mind or you might have left undone in the previous year. Whether you’re starting a good habit, dropping a bad one, trying to change something within yourself, or something on the outside, there is no better time than now. The best laid plans are always done with a little effort. So don’t wait until you’ve got all the facts.
I was supposed to publish this post last week but I was asking myself so many questions that really took me sometime to answer. Below are some of the questions I asked myself.
- What do I need to create that I haven’t?
- How can I change things for the better?
- What relationships do I need to create to achieve my goals?
You can also ask yourself such questions as it will also help you in defining your goals in case you haven’t.
So let’s get to it: The things I wish to accomplish in 2013.
My Personal Goals
- Reduce my fear: I put this as the number one because I can’t achieve any of my desired goals if I don’t eliminate this first. In the book Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson, he asked a question that said……. WHAT WILL YOU DO IF YOU WEARN’T AFRAID? I don’t know about you, but my own answer is that I WILL TAKE ACTION.
Goal: do one thing that use to terrify me on a monthly basis.
- Get Healthier: There is a saying that health is wealth and I totally agree with that, so I will be paying more attention to my health.
Goal: Reduce my sugar intake, I don’t take anything alcohol and that made me to be taking too much sugar, I will have to reduce it to avoid diabetes. I will be taking more fruits as it is medicinal.
I’ve also decided to be doing exercise on a regular basis.
- Continue enhancing my knowledge base because knowledge is power and the mind that is open to reading can never come back to its original size.
Goal: Read at least one good motivational book every month.
My Business Goals
I will like to be brief here.
- Increase my blog traffic and build more quality backlinks: We’re all cognizant of the fact that without people visiting your blog; it’s as good as nothing. So i really want to take Top Blogging Coach to the next level and the methods I want to use in achieving this is includes……..
Guest Posting.
Blog Commenting.
Social Media.
Engage more on forums.
I will also be posting at least 2 post/week on my blog, that’s preferably Mondays and Thursdays.
- Earn at least $200 from my blogs on a monthly basis before the year runs out…
How? Since I started this blog, I’ve never focused on making profit from it. This is not because I don’t like money, but because I wanted to understand the field very well while building solid relationship with my readers and other bloggers. Besides, money wasn’t the main reason why I started blogging, but it will also be great to be getting some rewards from our efforts.
Therefore, I plan to set up at least 3 more niche sites before the end of 2013 (I will be documenting this on my blog). I’m also planning to create my own product but that is still under probability for now.
I know $200 might be small but I believe that it’s not all about setting goals, the main thing is setting achievable goals, who knows? Maybe by God’s grace I might make more than that.
- Be more concern on how I spend my time and Energy: Some months ago, I wrote a post about mistaking activity for achievements, most of you may have read the post but in case you haven’t, I’ll suggest you do because you might be making the same mistake without knowing it. I know that we all know when we squander our time on things that doesn’t matter.
After reading Steve Scott’s book……2013 goals, I realized some mistakes I’ve been making before which I never knew. Therefore, I will be putting the things I learnt from that book into practice to see the impacts it can create on my life and business. One of the things I will like to pay more attention to is the time I spend on Social Networking sites and the time I spend watching movies.
Email Marketing: I’m using Getresponse but I might switch to a free Autoresponder because of finance until I start making some dough to fund the paid ones.
I will also be engaging more with my subscribers as I’ve not been giving them enough attention all these while. My plan is to be sending them mails twice/week. Mondays will be on a random topic on blogging, it might be my recent discovery, an interesting post I read or any other valuable content. Then, Fridays will be the posts I wrote on my blog within the week.
Sometimes, I might also notify them if I found any product that might interest them. I will also work on getting more subscribers, I plan to use a pop up plugin for this, (please let me know of any good free plugin that can do that).
- I will also be networking with other bloggers: My friend 2013 goals thought me a great lesson on relationship building and I only wished I knew about that earlier. Therefore, one very essential thing I will do more this year is to reach out and build more relationship with other bloggers.
- I will also like to register my business with the Cooperate Affairs Commission(CAC) and then secure a tax identification number(TIN)
- Create a logo for Top Blogging Coach: I plan to outsource this on Fiverr.
Other random things I will like to do if I have time
Interview at least one blogger once/month.
Make some instruction videos to upload on YouTube.
Read some biographies of people that inspire me.
Submit more articles to Infobarrel(I will write a post about this later)
All these and more are the things I will work to achieve this year. Of cause I won’t forget to dedicate some of my time for my creator and some for myself (Have Fun) lol.
I know that by now, you all already have your 2013 goal. Let’s all work together in order to achieve our targets. This will not be very easy to accomplish but determination is the best friend of success. All you need to do is to review your 2012 success and failures and then know where to make corrections.
If attaining your goal is usually difficult to you, then you might consider making some pictures of it and paste it to a place that you’ll always see it, and then motivate yourself to achieve them.
I agree with my friend 2013 goals where he stated on his post that his codename for 2012 is EXPOSURE, while 2013 is ACTION and 2014 will be MOMENTUM.
My next step now is to print this post for easy reference; I will also be documenting on this blog the ones I’m able to achieve by the end of every month starting from February.
So help me God. Who said we cannot achieve our goals? Yes we can
Thank you for taking the time to read this long post of mine, I will also appreciate your kind thoughts on this. Is there anything you know I was suppose to add that I didn’t and vice-versa? Do you know of any good pop up plugin? What are your own 2013 goals? Please let’s discourse more in the comment section.

Hey Theodore,
These all seem like very realistic goals you’ve set for yourself. I have no doubt that when you put your mind to achieving something that you will.
I know that when you “put it out there” for others to see that it does help make us accountable. We don’t want to have to say at the beginning of the next year that everything went bust. I know for me it’s been a big help although some of my goals were just a change in direction.
So here is to you achieving everything you desire and I have no doubt we’ll be getting excellent reports at the beginning of next year.

Sure thing Adrienne,
You will definitely achieve whatever you put your mind into. Thats why Napoleon Hill say that whatever the mind can conceive, believe, it can achieve. I published these goals for others to see just to make sure i stick to them, just like you said, its all about accountability.
Thanks for coming.

Who said we cannot achieve our goals? And I echo with you, we can! Besides, I truly love it when you said, so help me God!
I truly believe you have laid out a good plan for the year and since you plan to print this out as a guide to ensure you follow through shows that you are determined to make things work. I will only need to suggest that you will need time management to pull all of these through. Each day should therefore start with a ‘to do’ list. That way you can be sure that you are heading in the right direction.
Do I have goals for the year? Of course! I had been tempted to put mine on the blog after reading many others but I simply decided to keep them to myself why as the year go on, I will be dipping into that bag from time to time and then put them up! For sure, I have not set a long list for myself knowing that I have so many other things to do apart from running my blog.
I’m wishing the all the best as you move on to achieve your goals for the year.
Theodore Nwangene says
Of cause Chadrack,
Yes we can, and i believe that with God, all things are very possible. I will surely try my possible best to see that i achieve all my goals and i know with you guys….. I will definitely conquer.
Thanks for your wonderful comment my good friend.

Hey, Theodore,
There’s no better way to make sure you achieve your goals than to make yourself accountable by writing them down and making them public.
I got my website underway last year thanks to the motivation I derived from doing just that on a course I undertook – I posted my goals and regular updates on a progress log on the forum, and it really galvanized me into action, I can tell you!
Well done for articulating your goals so clearly – I look forward to following your progress as 2013 unfolds – way to go!
Sue
PS I couldn’t access your site for a few days – was there a problem?
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your honest reply, i so much agree with you that making our goals public will make us to be accountable to it. I just pray that God gives us the strength and knowledge to follow through to the end.
Keep fit my friend.

Hey Theodore, I think this post is pretty epic my friend!
It outlines what you want to do to grow as an online entrepreneur, you have identified what was dragging you down and made a plan to overcome those bad habits and are committing yourself to accomplish your goals by making them public, it really doesn’t get any better than that!
Thanks for the shout out on your blog and if I had to pick ONE thing from everything I’ve read here today, it would be that you’re not chasing the money.
Let the money chase you my friend, you already have the right mindset now just go and achieve your goals man!
I know you will and if you run into any problems, let me know how can I help, you won’t have to ask me twice. 😉
Sergio

Theodore, you are doing well on your blog. I say it is not quantity but quality that counts. I believe it is important to have a support system ie your fellow bloggers to hold you accountable to your own goals.
I did something similar on my blog.
I am happy to see so many of my blogging friends commenting on your blog. I am probably late, but better late than never.
I am please to support your efforts and I wish you much success.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks Michael,
I’m indeed very happy to have you on my blog today,

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a awesome job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Opera. Exceptional Blog!

Hi Theodore,
I must say you carry a nice and positive attitude towards the things around you.Setting a goal plays a prominent role in our success. To run without knowing our destination, way to reach there and our capabilities is nothing but just a waste. And our goal must cover all the aspects like you mentioned above.
