We’ve always heard that there is time for everything and if you do anything at the wrong time, you will be making a mistake. You know as much as I do that it’s not easy to maintain a blog but, if you have good blogging strategies then, it will be much easier for you.
There are some situations that you will find yourself in life and you will not feel like doing what you usually love to do and if you go on forcing yourself to it, you might end up regretting your actions later. So, it’s always better to pay attention to yourself and do things when you know you can do them.
In this post, I want to highlight some of the conditions that are not good to blog on and if you force yourself to, you might be committing a sin against yourself :).
Never You Force Yourself To Blog:
1. When you’re tired and feeling sleepy: This is the worst time to blog. Whenever you’re tired and you feel like sleeping, its better you succumb to it and don’t blog in fact, don’t go close to your laptop.
You’re not made of wood and as such, you need to pay attention to your internal self. God is not stupid and if you try to work when you’re feeling sleepy then, you’re somehow trying God. I know it’s good to be stubborn sometimes but, blogging/working when you should be sleeping is even dangerous to your health.

I’ve done this before and it ended up causing me an acute headache and joint pains. I’m sure you don’t want to experience that because; you will end up spending the money you’re actually trying to earn on drugs. Don’t see your blogs as more important than your health because, you can only blog when you’re healthy. If you break down because you were depriving yourself sleep then, will you be able to blog again?
This is why you need to take care of your health first because blogging because “Health is Wealth”. So, whenever you start having the feelings of tiredness and sleepy, the best thing for you to do then is to go and have some rest, take some sleep and at the end, you will discover that you’ve been filled with more strength and energy to blog.
2. When you’re worried and de-motivated: Some time ago, I wrote a post about the best time to blog. We all have those times of the day when we feel much more motivated to blog. Mine is early in the morning between 4-6 AM and when I’m writing at this time, the idea keeps flowing unlimitedly. And if I try to blog or write when I’m not motivated, I won’t achieve anything.
There are also some times when you will be worried or disturbed by one thing or the other and it’s not advisable to blog at such state. The best thing you can do in this kind of situation is to go out, take a long walk and have some fresh air. Even if you must publish a new post on your blog the next minute, if you’re disturbed, its better you don’t write that post because you will be wasting your time creating a junk article.
It’s always our duty to motivate ourselves. You can either find motivation by reading some books or reading some blog posts but, the main thing is to leave blogging and find something that will put your mind at rest and also inspire you once you’re worried.

3. When you have nothing to say: We all know that ideas come and go and when you don’t have the idea needed to do something, you cannot do anything. Some of us have read somewhere before that it’s good to be updating our blogs on a daily basis, while this can be good at least, it will make you to be famous but at the same time, if you have nothing to say, its better you keep quiet and stay away from the keyboard.
You should not be writing and blogging just for doing it sake, whenever you publish a new post on your blog, its better for your readers to find it interesting and informational rather than just writing because you just have to write.
If the motivation is not there then, keep off. Go find something else to do else, you will be writing bullshits which will in turn tarnish your image in the blogosphere. So, forget about publishing a new post everyday thereby filling your blog with crappy contents, only write when you know you have something very interesting to say. This will end up boosting your authority in the industry.
If you made it compulsory that you must be publishing new posts on daily basis then, you should find a team that will help you out. I know so many bloggers who publish up to 5-10 posts on their blog per day but, they are not doing it all alone. They have a network of writers that are writing for them. So, you can as well go ahead and do it.
I know there may be some other conditions that are not good to blog when we found ourselves in them but, I will leave you to mention those. Please, let me know what you think about this post on the comment section. Do you have any other conditions to add here? Let’s discuss further via the comment section below.
Also remember to tweet and share this post with your friend.
Happy New Week.

Hi Theodore,
You said it all here dear friend, and the very reasons when you should not blog at all 🙂
Lack of sleep or the time when you are tired and not in the mood to write is when you should rest and take it easy. However, being a writer, I’ve to keep changing my mood and get into the writing mood, so doing something different from the usual, or listening to music etc. is good to get back to work again.
Yes, if you are not motivated or nothing inspires you, then don’t just write for the sake of writing. But you shouldn’t let these spells get too long or you tend to lose touch with writing and the speed takes time to come, once you return. I’d say gather the inspiration from people around you, fellow bloggers, and just keep writing. The more you write, the better you become and this is true as well. Like you mentioned, everyone has the more productive time – mine is also usually in the morning, when my kids aren’t around, while for some bloggers it’s past midnight – so it all depends!
Blogging takes time and patience, and it is hard work, so when you have the time then blog – just don’t write posts that you put up for the sake of updating your blog. They should be meaningful posts that your readers value and come back for more, isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing. Happy New Week 🙂
Theodore Nwangene says
You’ve said it all Harleena,
The climax of the matter is that we should always listen to our inner selves and answer accordingly. Blogging is indeed a hard job and it will only take lots of commitment for you to stick longer on it.
I’m happy you like the post Harleena, thanks for coming.
Chadrack says
I totally agree with you on every point here. Personally, I’ve learned to never push myself into writing just because I want to satisfy my weekly schedule. If I’m not in the mood, I give myself some time to kick into motion again! 🙂 Though most times that has led to my not posting anything, but I think it is better to something awesome to say and say it well instead of just producing quantity.
Thanks for sharing.
Theodore Nwangene says
You’re very correct Chadrack,
Its better to always write when you have something to say because, that’s the only time you will be able to produce quality. If you end up writing because you need to stick to your schedule then I’m afraid, you will only be focusing on quantity which is very bad.
Thanks for coming.

Right, these are situations that should not be avoided for blogging. For other times when its not proper to blog include: when one is easily distracted, when there is not blogging plan, when there things around don’t inspire!
In kingged.com – the content syndication and social networking website for Internet marketers, I have left the above comment where I found this post.

You simply right, I’ve met this phase, I wrote an article and was some sort of rambling words to be frank.
At that point you need a nice break, go out, take a walk with your girlfriend and your inspiration is back.
Thanks for sharing this man, see you next time!
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks and welcome back Daniel,
I’m happy you enjoyed the post

You cannot be creative when your mind is not at a place. You cannot produce your best when you are not focused. And instead of producing poor quality content, i’ll rather leave it till i can be able to focus and write better.
When am not focused enough to write, i play music, see movies or go out and hang out with my friends, that way i refresh my mind and when i return my mind will be free and ideas will flow.
I found this article on Kingged .com and also left a comment there.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks for your great contribution Desmond,
I succumb with all the points you made. Thanks for coming

Hi Theodore, funny reading this now as I was just debating go to bed or blog? I think you answered that one for me. If I go to bed early and get up early, that’s my best time to write and concentrate. It’s almost a lost cause now at this time of night for me and I’m worried about a few things on my mind. I did have ideas and started a post but I will wait til the early a.m. It is much better when one is inspired to write and have nothing else on their mind and are well rested. Great points for us all to remember Theodore!
Theodore Nwangene says
Definitely Lisa,
Its good you went to bed after reading this post. There is no way you will be able to produce any meaningful thing with a worried mind and tired body. But once you’ve taken some rest and nap, you will be filled with lots of energy and relaxed mind to attack the job.
Thanks for coming Lisa.

Hi Theodore,
Great advice my friend. Especially the one about staying away from the keyboard if we have nothing to say. I tend to stay away from posting if I don’t feel I have anything to say but then again, I always do, LOL.
The best time for me to post is at night. My teens are either at work or at home on social media or playing video games and my husband is watching sports. It’s not peace and quiet but I can usually drown out the sounds!
Thanks for sharing these great tips. Have a great new week ahead!
Theodore Nwangene says
I’m happy you like the post Corina,
Forcing our self to work when we don’t feel like is just like a punishment to ourselves and if we continue, we will end up committing some disaster on our work. This is why its good to try and obey nature all the time.
Thanks for coming.

I feel pressured these days and I think that is one of the biggest reasons why mistakes happen in my work. I have the same opinion that “it’s always better to pay attention to yourself and do things when you know you can do them.”, thanks for the knick-knack.
The 1st number reminds of my scheduled sleeping or resting time after working and that is 9pm or 10pm. It is vital to rest out back after several hours facing the PC. I can also relate to number two.
To be straight forward, you reminded me of the right things to do. Thanks for this! 🙂
I found this post shared on Kingged.com, the Internet marketing social networking site, and I “kingged” it and left this comment.

Health is need wealth 😀
We should never sacrifice our health for anything, whatever it might be (okay, maybe a few cases…what if the survival of the world depended upon you being awake? I doubt that it will ever happen..but, hey, we should be prepared, right? :D).
Yeah, it’s probably best not to blog while we are tired (if we are tired, it means that our brains are too. Creative tasks such as blogging require a lot of energy…and that is something we don’t have when we tired).
4-6 AM, huh? That’s really early 😀 I can’t do that! I go to sleep at about 11:30 (I have to get up at 6:30 to catch my bus to college).
Blog posts writing – that’s all in the weekends. Ideas on the other hand are thought about everyday 😀
#2 – Same with number 2…I think it’s a lot like #1. But, in this case, we are forcing our brains to do the work (when we are clearly not interested in it…which results in using more energy – just to keep us focused on the task).
Anyways, thank you for sharing this, Theodore 🙂 Hope you are doing well!
Theodore Nwangene says
You’ve made lots of awesome points here Jeevan,
And I agree with you. The survival of the whole world depending on me being awake? Lol, I will certainly save the world by being awake of cause but, that will never happen though :).
Yea, I’m used to waken up around that time and, that’s also the best time for me to work. I guess we all have our own ways right?.. Cool.
Thanks a lot for stopping by Jeevan and, happy St Val’s day

Hi Theodore, It’s very long time to see you Back ! Well I hope you would fine. Theodore, I do appreciate your Post & I do agree We all should not force our self To Blog Whenever we are in bad Situations. Basically Blogging isn’t a fun Game, It’s is a sharp mind Game and there is strong need to play with it.

Well said Theodore.
I don’t blog all those time.
Bloggers should take time for writing. It is good for innovation.

Hi Theodore,
Great subject for a post. I think that too many bloggers get into a rhythm and think that they have to post by the schedule without any flexibility. Being flexible, while staying committed to what needs to be done is a great way to move forward.
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks for adding to the discursion Amiti and, I agree with your points.
Okechukwu Philip says
Hey my man, its been a while, but I’m sure you understand (a little here and a little there 🙂 ).
I am really impressed at this article you did here and I think I should start by saying that health is wealth. So every bloggers thoughts should be focused on prioritizing his or her health. Because a healthy person now has the ability to think of making wealth so when ever one is feeling down or sleepy, don’t force yourself to work : just take a little rest, it goes a long way to refresh your entire body and mind.
And also, motivation is the key to fulfillment : an unmotivated mind cannot achieve much. Just like you said : its our responsibility to motivate ourselves when ever we are feeling worried or unmotivated.
Thanks for the informative article. Philip

Hey Theodore,
These are wise words to live by. You always want to put out great, quality content for your readers. And to make sure of this, we all need to take heed to what you said here in this post.
I do have to admit, I’ve written posts when i was tired and also when I just wasn’t motivated. I sounded like a rambling duck or just plain bland with my content. Your readers will not appreciate this which as a result, you will lose your readership, which I did.
You always want to be on top of your game. Taking breaks, reading books, or just taking a good nap will benefit you in the long run. So in order words, don’t stress yourself out! Thanks for the share!
Theodore Nwangene says
Happy Valentine’s day Smith,
And, welcome back to my blog. I’m very happy you agreed with my points based on your personal experience. Thanks a lot for stopping by.
Mary Stephenson says
Hi Theodore
You are so right! There have been times I wonder why someone would waste their time putting out poor quality posts, just to fulfill an obligation that they for whatever reason made, to themselves or to their audience.
When I write posts I take awhile to think about what I am going to write and although it would be wonderful to be able to pop one out twice a week, it just isn’t going to happen. I would rather make it short and sweet and less often. Content is most important and you can’t always please everyone, so I don’t try. But I write for the conviction about how I feel towards the subject I have chosen. I also as you say can’t write if I am tired, sick or just not feeling it. I may think for days before I ever sit down to the keyboard. Once in awhile I will put some thoughts down that float in from what seems nowhere and then it all comes to have meaning months later. Obviously the thoughts were there for a reason but it was not yet revealed to me. I like to write from the heart and if the heart is not there, it just is a big void and waste of time to conjure up something that isn’t real.
Mary
Theodore Nwangene says
I couldn’t have agreed more Mary,
You can’t write without the heart. For you to be able to write an awesome piece, your heart and mind must be in the same place and if not, you will be committing some great sin :).
I can’t force myself to write when I don’t feel like it because, I know what it will result to but, I know so many people does it which is not good at all.
I’m happy you agreed with me here Mary, thanks for coming.
Jon Rhodes says
For me I’m the same – I can’t write something great every day. If I was to try my quality would suffer. Ryan Biddulph on the other hand writes about 5 posts per day! Don’t know how he does it, but I guess we’re all different!
Theodore Nwangene says
Welcome to my blog Jon,
I’m so happy to have you. Yea, I also finds it difficult to write everyday especially for the fact that I have so many other things to do like my studies. Ryan is really trying and I’m also wondering how he is doing it.
Thanks for the shout out Jon.

Hii Theodore,
The three things you mentioned in this article happens with me and I think it can happen with any blogger. I can work when I’m feeling sleepy but in case I feel demotivated then I try to look somewhere else like watching movies, etc. The third thing happens so many times in a day and that’s the time when we should start reading what others have written. 🙂
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Pawan,
Yea, we bloggers always experience this kind of situations and, its very natural. Watching movies is indeed a very good way to get some motivations again.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Theo – I agree with you on all the points and I have seen many bloggers fail on point 3 as they post pointless post just for sake for continuous posting . It is better to stay away from our blog if we cannot produce quality content. Thanks for sharing these excellent tips
