We’ve always been hearing such words like Internet Business, internet marketing, affiliate marketing, blogging and Profit but, to fully integrate all of these words into a successful merging you will need another word which is Traffic. Today, every blog post you will find about building a successful site would always include the importance of generating traffic, true or false? So, how do you increase your blog traffic?
However, we’re all very much aware that traffic is the most essential thing to a successful internet based business. Apart from making sure that you have a great product/services to offer, you cannot successfully run the business if you don’t first of all learn how to increase your blog traffic therefore, it would be time to get to the nitty gritty of things…… generating traffic.

Moreover, if you already own a site and you’re not getting the traffic that you’re supposed to be getting in order to move things forward then, it’s time to reconsider your strategies. If you are contending in this very competitive business, you should always be a step ahead of your competition; increasing your blog traffic flow should have been done starting yesterday.
Timing is of utmost important, that’s an old adage known to everyone and when it comes to generating traffic, you should always be on your toes and be a day ahead of everyone. Never think of today and tomorrow as a starting point for making your site traffic laden, it should always have been yesterday.
Therefore to help you out in generating more traffic for your site, below are some proven methods to increase your blog, note that these are the same methods I’m using and it’s really working wonders for me.
7 Surefire ways to Increase your Blog Traffic
1. Make use of Viral Marketing
We’ve often heard the phrase viral marketing and I’m sure we all knows what it means, but in case you don’t know, it allows you to spread the word about your products, services or anything without any costs or if at all, low costs only. This is a marketing method that can be quite sneaky; you can attach your company’s name, product or link to a certain media such as a funny video, entertaining game, an interesting article, a gossip or buzz.
Recommended Reading: Viral Marketing | Not Using It Could murder Your Business!
With this method, people get infected with the creativity and entertainment of the medium that they will pass it on to many people making it to go viral. You must agree with me that viral marketing can increase your blog traffic more than you ever expected.
2. Exchange or Trade Links with other sites
When it comes to exchanging links with other sites, both of you will benefit from the exercise. When one site features another sites link, they could provide one another with the traffic one site generates. The efforts are doubly beneficial because it would seem like both of you are working to generate more traffic. The more links traded with more sites the more traffic could be expected. But, you must make sure that you’re doing it with a non spammy site else, it will bring you more harm than good.
3. Use proper keywords on your blog posts
Search engines look for certain keywords that they would show in their results page. In doing so, having the right keyword and keyword phrase is a high requirement in ranking high in search engine results. You could write your own content or you could hire someone to do it for you.
Just make sure you’re doing it well and not flooding your posts with irrelevant keywords.
4. Write Interesting articles that can lead traffic to your site
Its not all about getting people to your site. In my opinion, the main thing is getting them to come back after their first visit and one of the ways to do that is to ensure you write compelling contents that they will enjoy and also learn something from.
Also, write guest posts for sites that would contain the same subject that your site deals in. When the site owner’s visitor finish reading your guest post and found it interesting, he will go over to your author bio and from there, he will likely visit your site in order to know more about you.
5. Join forums and online social communities
This has been a very effective method that I’m using to increase my blog traffic. There are so many so many social communities out there that if you join, they will help to spread the word about you and your site. What most of them do is to share, comment, and vote for your blog posts on content syndication sites.
Just capture a market and show your expertise and credibility. When you found a good foundation for your site, people will trust you and your site and will pass on to many people their trust. Traffic will certainly increase because they know that you can provide what they need.
6. Offer newsletters
This is also a good traffic generation method that can really increase your blog traffic tremendously. Many people forgets most of the sites they visited the first time but, if you have a way of reminding them about your site, they will definitely come back.
One way to do this is to have a newsletter subscription form on your blog so that they can easily give you their email address for updates. Whenever you publish a new post, they will automatically be notified about it and they will come back to read it.
7. Make use of Content Syndication
If you really want to increase your blog traffic, you must not neglect the presence of content syndication. Since I was introduced to this traffic generation method, it has being a huge source of traffic for me. The ones I’m using at the moment are……. Bizsugar, Blokube, Tagza and Inbound.

There you have it all. This post is already above 1000 words so I will have to end it here. But the main thing is that if many people know what you are about and your existence is shared with many others, you will find a loyal traffic that can provide you with more traffic by recommendation. If you arouse the curiosity of your customers they would be pushed to help you with your traffic. Just follow the above methods to increase your blog traffic now and you’ll see that things will not remain the same again for you and your site.
Now, is there any other method of generating traffic that has been working for you which I didn’t write about here? Please, let us know in the comment section below, your comments are always valued.

Dhaval says
well written bro! i think viral marketing is the best method to increase our blog traffic. isn’t so?
Theodore Nwangene says
You’re right Dhaval and i agree with you. Thanks for coming and have a great week:)
Emily says
Hi Theodore,
I agree with Dhaval that viral marketing is the best method to increase a blog’s traffic. Also, I also would like to add that holding enticing contests or giveaways on your blog will definitely increase your traffic dramatically.
But overall, I think that implementing all the 7 ways you mentioned here are all contributing factors to increasing one’s traffic. Sure, one way may be effective for a certain blog, but a collaboration of many different methods to increase blog traffic (starting with the simplest – write content meant for readers, not search engines) will certainly keep your blog floating in popularity amongst readers for a long time!
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Emily,
You’ve really said it all and i don’t have much to say. I do agree with all you said though especially the giveaway stuff, it really works wonders. Thanks for coming.
Ambika Choudhary Mahajan says
Yea Dhaval, Viral marketing is great!
But it is so difficult to come up with viral content & videos. It is not easy to get people to press the SHARE button.
I do some basic KW research, create interesting content & am a part f some active online communities.
Unfortunately, Bizsugar & Blokube did not work out for me.
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Amibika,
Its quite unfortunate. Bizsugar is my top referral traffic source. There are some facebook groups that votes for their members posts of those content syndication sites. You might have to search for them.
I agree with you that Viral marketing is not easy to come by but. if you happen to be lucky, you will use it to make a difference, Thanks for coming Ambika and do have a nice day.
Tim Bonner says
Hey Theodore

Thanks a lot for stopping by Tim,
Just check them out and see what they can do for your blog. Do let me know when you create an account with them, there are some facebook groups i will suggest for you in order to get maximum result from them.
Thanks for the visit man and extend my regards to your family.
Harleena Singh says
Hi Theodore,
Firstly, I like whatever you are doing with your blog as the new look is much better than the earlier one – so keep up the good work 🙂
Coming to the post, you mentioned some wonderful ways to increase blog traffic that most bloggers should keep in mind. I guess you missed out on commenting! Or perhaps that already an old method that I follow, and it surely does work for me. building relationships, whether old or new really does work. I can say that because that’s what I do on my blog. Other than that I’m not really doing anything much.
Yes, the newsletters are important but a lot depends what you send in those newsletters and whether people will open them at all. I’ve never tried guest posts as yet, nor viral marketing or exchanging links as that can be dicey and you never know who the person on the other side of the screen really is. Nor have I ever had the time to join forums or communities, other than a few Facebook groups. Yes, content syndication is said to work, though I rarely use any myself other than BizSugar.
What really works for me are the comments at other people’s blogs, using keywords, and most importantly writing good content, which should be what should actually drive traffic to our blogs – isn’t it? If that happens, I don’t think you’d need to do any of these things much – isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Theodore Nwangene says
Well said Harleena,
I never forgot the benefits of blog commenting and in fact, that has also being one of my top traffic source and that was how i got to know about most people i know today. The only reason why i didn’t include it is because a lot has already being said about it. But, it really works indeed:).
Bizsugar is also very effective and there is a group i will add you to on facebook if you don’t mind. What they do is to votes for members posts on Bizsugar and other related content syndication sites to increase your reach.
The main thing about traffic is just to follow those ones that are working for you. But, i think you have to create some time and try guest posting too.
Thanks a lot for stopping Leena, i really enjoy reading your long comments:).
BTW: I just read your interview on Bashir’s blog, so amazing:).
Temilola Globalwalyy says
Hello Theo, You are right, but One fact is most top bloggers will not exchange link with you except your blog make value to them, which is the fact you need to build your blog well before requesting for link exchange…
Thanks for the great Info
Theodore Nwangene says
I agree with you Tami,
But you don’t really have to start going for the big boys when you’re just starting, you have to start with people that are on the same level with you first.
Thanks a lot for stopping by man.

Although, I get good traffic from Stumble Upon but I always have to stumble other websites to get traffic to my own blog.
I also know some bloggers who use their Facebook page to generate a lot of traffic to their blogs.
Thanks for sharing this helpful post and you have a good looking and tidy blog.

Sup Theodore,
What a great list! I have tried everything on the list. Number 4 – Write Interesting articles that can lead traffic to your site. This works very fine for me. Content is still the king. That is the only way you can get into people’s heart. Provide something sensible and go beyond their imagination.
Forum works like magic too. I registered on http://warriorforum.com/ and been seeing good resluts. The problem with warriorforum are you have to pay to register, you have to participate in discussion, you have to ask questions and you even have to pay to you have signature on nay questions asked.
Thanks for bro
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi my man,
I understood all you said and I really agree with you. Having interesting content on your blog alone can really boost your traffic and authority.
I’ve used W.F before and I also saw some great outcome. Thanks a lot for stopping by my man.
Ammar Ali says
Hey Theodore,
The new design of this blog is really cool!
Good job.
You’ve done writing some good ways to getting traffic to our blog. I’d like to share how I am getting traffic to my blog.
Most of the traffic comes to my blog from Search engines, I do optimize my blog properly for SEO. We can’t ignore it! Can we? 😉
I’m active more on my facebook fan page. I do ask questions, I share some interesting stuff to engage users. Sharing links daily on social network is really helping me to increase traffic to my blog.
Do you know, I also started giveaway on my blog and can’t believe sudden spike in traffic.
Regards,
Ammar

That’s another thing I will try. Thanks for coming.

Hello Theodore Nwangene,
Well all the mentioned tips are really helpful and i must say it is very essential for all the bloggers to increase traffic from search results. And the first thing we must consider is keyword research or targeting the correct keyword so that it could bring the right and quality amount of visitors from search engines.
Apart from this, forum posting or joining forums, writing quality articles and etc is also important.
thanks
Theodore Nwangene says
Hi Jordan,
Thanks a lot for the visit to my blog, i really appreciate that. Yea, K.W research is really important if you want to get fast traffic, but the issue is that most people don’t really understand how to go about it for an effective impact.
Thanks for coming man, hope to see you again :).

Dima Al Mahsiri says
Hi,
Thank you for the informative post. I have a question pls: Are Content Syndication is only limited to SEO related articles? Are there another sites for other niches’ articles?
Thanks.
Theodore Nwangene says
Welcome to my blog Dima,
I really appreciate your coming here now, regards your question. Content syndication is to limited to SEO articles alone in fact, you can submit articles on any niche provided its not an abusive, pornographic or any other bad type of article.
Just visit bizsugar.com and submit your articles. But you also have to create an account with them first. Thanks for coming and don’t forget to let me know if you have any other questions.
Dima Al Mahsiri says
Thanks Theodore for visiting my blog 🙂
I like reading about SEO, I was notified about your post through Bizsugar Newsletter. I have few SEO guest posts, and I did submit my posts, including my ” Art of Pinteresting” post at Bizsugar. You know I have a beauty blog, but I love SEO and reading about it helped me a lot in modifying my blog.
Promoting SEO posts is much easier than beauty related posts. Most high PR blogs in beauty niche have their own comment system, in addition, they hardly accept guest posts from small bloggers, and that’s a big problem for newbie bloggers like me.
Since you visited my blog, do you think my beauty tips posts are welcomed in Bizsugar ?
Theodore Nwangene says
Of cause Dima,
Do you have an account on Bizsugar? Have you tried to submit your post there before? If not, then you have to go there and create a free account and then start submitting your posts.
I’ve seen some posts that are related to yours there before. Thanks
Dima Al Mahsiri says
That’s great !
I already have an account, but I didn’t think that beauty posts are accepted!
Thank you very much, I will submit my posts their .
Theodore Nwangene says
Yea Dima,
Juts submit your post and see how it goes. Please keep me updated 🙂

Great points and tips! I have found guest posting on other (bigger blogs) is a great way to gain more traffic. The important thing about that is finding and connecting with people in your same niche area and then writing superb content for them.
Can you recommend a site that helps a writer/blogger find key words?
Theodore Nwangene says
Thanks for your wonderful contribution Dan,
Guest posting is really a very effective way to drive traffic. Yea, there must be a site, let me check and then get back to you. Thanks my man for visiting.
Adeniyi says
Thanks for Sharing, Theodore. Very informative post indeed.
I just would like to add that keyword stuffing has proven to be less effective these days, as Google frowns on excessive use of keywords in content. We all should write compelling content and optimize less for the search engines. If the content is compelling enough, readers will share it with their network and give you viral traffic for your hardwork. .. . Florida SEO tips

Thanks a lot Adeniyi,
I appreciate your coming to my blog. I also agree with all you said. Thanks

Theodore Nwangene says
I agree with you Rabbi,
But if you must be allowed to submit your URL to forums then, you must first of all provide lots of value to the group and also make sure the link you’re submitting is very relevant to the thread.
Thanks for coming.
